Harvard Activities
Honoring the Harvard Class of 2021 With Harvard graduation and the HAA Annual Meeting celebrated virtually this year, we experienced how alumni from around the world were able to contribute and connect, remotely. We look forward to the in-person celebrations for the Classes of 2020 and 2021, once Harvard determines it is safe for all. This year’s virtual program included a welcome from Harvard President Larry Bacow, undergraduate and graduate addresses, conferring of degrees, presenting of honorary degrees, and principal address by President of Prairie View A&M University Ruth J. Simmons. The recording of the ceremony celebrating the Class of 2021 can be found here. A Youtube playlist of multiple Graduation 2021 events and speakers is available here.
This program honored alumni accomplishments and celebrated Harvard's extraordinary global community. It included a lineup of notable speakers, including Harvard University President Lawrence S. Bacow JD ’76, MPP ’76, PhD ’78 and Kevin Young AB ’92, Andrew W. Mellon Director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. The program included a special celebration hosted by 25th Reunion chief marshal Anurima Bhargava AB ’96. The main event, hosted by HAA president John J. West Jr. MBA ’95, followed.
