Two-Factor Authentication for RMHUC and HAA logins

Harvard University Information Technology

Dear Member of the Harvard Community,

The University is replacing Duo with Okta for identity verification when signing into HarvardKey-protected tools and resources, such as the Alumni Directory.

As of February 24, 2026, you won’t be able to use Duo to verify your identity with HarvardKey. We’re writing to share instructions for switching to Okta so your HarvardKey account stays protected and your access to Harvard resources remains uninterrupted.

What do I need to do?

To switch from Duo to Okta before February 24, 2026:

  1. Follow these instructions to set up Okta Verify on your mobile device.

For the fastest and most secure experience, we recommend you set up Okta Verify with FastPass, which allows you to verify your identity with your fingerprint, facial recognition, or device-specific PIN instead of entering your HarvardKey password.

  2. After you have completed the Okta setup, you no longer need to use Duo.

Where can I get help?

If you need help or have questions, please contact the HAA Service Desk or the HUIT Service Desk.

Find help and troubleshooting articles on our Getting started with Okta page.

Thank you,

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT)
