How are Harvard Clubs and Harvard SIGs different?

Harvard Clubs

• Definition: Geography-based organizations that bring together all Harvard alumni living in a specific city, state, or region.

• Focus: Building a local community. They serve as the "local face" of Harvard, hosting a wide variety of social, educational, and service events for everyone in that area (e.g., the RMHUC for Colorado and Wyoming).

• Membership: Open to any Harvard alum residing in or visiting that specific geographic territory.

Harvard Shared Interest Groups (SIGs)

• Definition: Affinity-based organizations that connect alumni globally around a common identity, profession, or hobby.

• Focus: Building a community around a specific niche. Examples include the Harvard Black Alumni Society, Harvard Alumni in Tech, or the Harvard Glee Club Foundation.

• Membership: Open to any Harvard alum who shares that specific interest or identity, regardless of where they live in the world.
