Presented by The Colorado Yale Association
The Schofields have spent nearly seven years in Bhutan, first helping to start and subsequently helping to run Bhutan’s first private college. They will describe this remote Himalayan kingdom and its fascinating culture and some of their experiences there (including Thanksgiving brunch with the king and being adopted by a baby yak) and then provide an introduction to the challenges and accomplishments of Bhutan’s rapidly changing educational system. If you are considering a trip to Bhutan or just want to know more about this Buddhist country, which gave birth to the philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH) and which has environmental protection clauses in its constitution, please join us. There will be refreshments and plenty of time for questions and discussion.
