March Madness! Harvard vs. Yale Playoff Basketball Watch Party

Ivy League Co-Champions Harvard and Yale meet for a one-game playoff to see who goes to the NCAA Tournament on March 14 at 2:00.

Watch Harvard take on Yale at Philadelphia's sold-out Palestra with a chance to make the NCCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive year following a 65-year dry spell!

On March 6, Yale beat Harvard 62-52 in Cambridge to take the Ivy League lead by one game with one game remaining for each.  Either a Yale win over Dartmouth or a Harvard loss to Brown on March 7 would seal it for the Elis.  Harvard held the lead for most of its game and beat Brown 72-62.  Yale was as much as 10 points up on Dartmouth, who had the lead for only 43 seconds near the end of the first half.  In the second half, Dartmouth did not regain the lead until the last half second, and held on to win 59-58.  So thanks to our friends in Hanover, we tied Yale for the season, each at 11-3.

This ends the matter except for the question of which school gets an automatic entry into the NCAA tournament. The one-game playoff will take place Saturday, March 14 at 4:00 Eastern (2:00 Mountain) in Philadelphia.  Choppers Sports Grill in Cherry Creek has set aside space for us and the Colorado Yale Association. If Harvard wins the playoff game, we will know on Sunday the schedule for the first NCAA game.

[This game will not be broadcast on normal networks and will come to Choppers via an Internet feed.  Although they are in the midst of upgrading their entire TV setup in preparation for the Tournament, they have promised us a hookup someplace in the bar.]

So come for an impromptu and informal get together to cheer on Harvard as it makes a bid for "The Big Dance!"  No admission charge; drinks and food are optional and on you.  GO HARVARD!
