Please join fellow RMHUC alumni from all schools to help families with critically ill children in our community.  We will meet on Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, contemporaneously at the offices of There With Care in Denver and Boulder.

About 12 years ago, Paula DuPre Pesmen, a former Hollywood producer of the early Harry Potter and Home Alone films, started There With Care to help families care for their children with life-threatening illnesses.  The mission of There With Care is to provide a wide range of thoughtful and fundamental services to children and their families during the critical phase of a medical crisis. There With Care serves families referred by medical agencies, by building a network of services and people who ease the burden of life’s day-to-day obligations with compassion and care.  Please learn more about the organization at: www.therewithcare.org.

On May 6, we will have a tour of There With Care’s facilities and learn more about what the organization does to care for members of our communities.  We will assemble Easy Meal Care Bags, which are totes containing meals, snacks and beverages. These bags, with personal notes from the RMHUC and its volunteers, will later be delivered to families who are spending long days in hospitals and chemotherapy treatment centers. These meals provide sustenance to parents who do not want to leave their child’s bedside or who are financially challenged and unable to purchase meals in hospital cafeterias.  This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the organization and to demonstrate caring to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.  The club is helping to underwrite the cost of this service project, so you do not need to bring any supplies, but you are welcome and encouraged to donate directly to There With Care if you are so moved. Space is limited!  We can accommodate the first 10 volunteers to sign up in each location.
