Robert E. Cleary

Robert "Rob" E. Cleary, Jr., 71, died peacefully at home in Novato, CA, on August 26, 2015, after a 17-year battle with Parkinson's. Born September 28, 1943, he had an ever-ready smile, engaging sense of humor, and constant good nature that won him devoted, lifelong friends. Graduated from Dartmouth in 1966. In 1967, joined the Marine Corps; served in Vietnam as a bombardier/navigator in the A6 Intruder, flying 208 combat missions, from 1969 to 1970. Received a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from Harvard, and an Urban Design degree from the University of Edinburgh. Rob was an avid fly-fisherman, marathon runner, skier, backpacker, squash player, and a four-time Ride The Rockies cyclist. Authored the book, Welcome Intruder, about his Vietnam experiences. In 1988, he opened his firm, Landscape Assoc. in Denver, and in 2002, married the love of his life, Judy Hartley. He is survived by Judy, his sister Susan, and brother John. A celebration of life will be held in Hanover, NH, in the spring of 2016.
