Was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Grew up in Minneapolis and Harlem (NYC). Has lived in Colorado 1969-70 and 1974-1992. I began living part-time in Denver in July 2009. Lives in Denver, CO / Freeport, NY.

History with RMHUC:
- I first joined the RMHUC sometime in the 1970's or 1980's. At that time, I worked with the Schools Committee and coordinated the interviews for Arapahoe County. I was also involved with the awarding of Harvard Books. In 1992, I moved to the Chicago area.
- When I began living part-time in Denver, in 2009, I rejoined the club and have been serving in a support/advisory role until August 2011 when I accepted an invitation to join the Steering Committee as a trustee.
History with other Harvard Clubs:
- I was a member of the Harvard Club of Chicago from 1992-1998. I was a member of the Board of Directors from roughly 1994-1998 and served as secretary for the last two years I was in the area. I also started and coordinated the Club's Early College Awareness Program which worked with a number of middle/lower income school districts in the near west suburbs of Chicago.
- I have been a member of the Harvard Club of Long Island since probably 1998 and a member of the Board of Directors for the past decade. I started the Club's involvement with Early College Awareness programming and have worked with the Club's Teacher Recognition program. I am still a member of the Club and the Board of Directors although I live part-time in New York.
History with the HAA or its equivalent elsewhere:
- In the late 1980's, I was elected to, and for one year chaired, the Harvard Graduate School of Education Alumni Council.
- In 1992, I was elected to the position of HAA Elected Director (1992-1995) and have been a member of the HAA Board of Directors for much of the period 1992 to the present. During those years, I have served as Vice President for University-wide Affairs, Chaired the HAA Awards Committee and currently serve on the HAA Nominating Committee. I am currently serving on the Visiting Committee to Harvard College.
- I serve on the Board of Directors of the University of Minnesota Duluth Alumni Association.
Career history:
- Before retiring in 2009, I served 41 years as a professional educator. I began my career in Minneapolis as a high school teacher of history and economics and served as head football coach.
- After completing my doctoral course work I began an administrative career with the Cherry Creek School District in suburban Denver, Colorado. Over 18 years there I served as a middle school principal, high school principal and central office administrator, including a period as interim superintendent.
- I spent the last 17 years of my career as a Superintendent of Schools in suburban Chicago, District Superintendent of New York State's largest educational service agency (Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educatioal Services) on Long Island, and Superintendent of Schools of the Freeport Public Schools (also on Long Island).
Current or significant past volunteer organizations:
- Over the course of my career, I have served on numerous Boards, leadership, and youth service organizations. Most recently, I served more than a decade on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Long Island.
Other interests / hobbies / passions:
- I enjoy sports as a participant and as a fan. I played intercollegiate football and still enjoy and support college athletics. I love to play golf, enjoy biking and working out in the gym. I even still play a little basketball.
- I also enjoy travel, music, legal/mystery/political intrigue novels, and the theater. Of course, I also value spending time with my two grandchildren.
